Can someone with alot of judging knowledge, tell me how the mirror glass gap placement for NCRS judging should be for 61-62 interior and exterior mirrors? Do you know whether this has recently changed at all and when, if so? Thank you for you assistance.

Thank you for replying. What I'm asking is how ncrs judges your mirror, should the pencil point image touch when you hold it against the glass on both interior & exterior mirrors?- Top

Re: 1961-1962 vette Mirror Judging Question on mirror glass gap vs no gap?
Joyce,
Interior mirror glass - silvered on the backside - reflection does not touch was used 53-60.
Generally speaking front silver - reflection touches - started sometime during the 61 year model for both interior and exterior mirrors. For sure in 1962 both the interior and exterior mirrors were silvered on the front and the reflection touched.
For an exact Judging clarification, recommend you ask Dave Heitzman the 61-2 National Team Leader.
Credit or business card held at 90 degrees with the person viewing at 45 degrees (half way between the credit card and the mirror glass) will give the best representation of the reflected image. Pencil tips often can be misread.
JMTCW,
Gary

Bill,
Credit or business card held perpendicular to the glass with you viewing half way in between will provide the best display of the reflection.

Re: 1961-1962 vette Mirror Judging Question on mirror glass gap vs no gap?
Thank you William and Gary for your replies. We had one of our customer's request that we change his interior mirror to the silvering on the back (reflection does not touch) because he claims it is now going to be judged this way as correct for ncrs judging . We feel this is wrong for how the original glass really was and your picture and other information seems to substantiate that.- Top

You installed glass in my mirrors last August. Before having you do that, I spent some time with Dave Heitzman looking at some original cars. We came to the conclusion that 61 were silvered on the front for both mirrors.

Re: 1961-1962 vette Mirror Judging Question on mirror glass gap vs no gap?
Very interesting as I have had 8- 58-60 cars judged and most judges think 58-60's have the front surface mirror and 61/62's have the rear surface mirror. Sure would like to know for shure. Maybe the new 61/62 JG has mentioned it. Joyce, do you have front and rear surface glass available?- Top

I would be the customer that Joyce is referring to; and Dave Heitsman sent me an email after the Rochester Regional meet that a 61 Corvette interior mirror has a gap and the 61 Corvette exterior mirror has no gap. Sincerely, Mark- Top
