I need to replace the mast on my original antenna base assembly.
Tried to unscrew it, but that does not work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dan
the specific question is can you replace the mast arm yourself? (I am looking at a NOS mast only to purchase, but if it is a major undertaking...I would not buy the mast).

Dan,
Yes, it is not hard. Remove the unit from the car by unscrewing the top side chrome bezel. Once in your hands, you can see the twist and turn function of the lower half. After that, everything is simple and easy to see.
You take a rubber hammer and tap on the top of the mast and the plastic plug in the bottom will move past the crimped areas and pop out. The challenge may be to re-install the NOS mast so that it makes contact with the thin piece of copper that makes the contact between the mast as it slides and the cable. Be very careful when you insert the NOS mast up through the bottom so that you do not tear the piece of copper. It is soldered on to the cable termination.
