It only took a year but the 62 hardtop is done- finally!

Last spring I finished the restoration of our 62 for the exception of the hardtop which I painted it at the same time as the car.

This past winter I tackled restoring all of the stainless and putting the hardtop back together, including all new glass, headliner and gaskets. It seemed like it was more difficult to put together the hardtop than it was to assemble the complete car!!! LOL

Between all of the info on this site, the restorer articles, and the folks at Glassworks I was able to get it done.. Thanks..

Here is a pic from today of the completed top on the car.

    enjoy,

    Tony

Nice job. That car is a rolling piece of fine art

This is very nice, I thought about doing the same, I don't think I have the time to dedicate to making mine a masterpiece like yours.

Looks great. I personally prefer the look of solid axles with the hardtop on. Don H.

Very very nice. Reminds me of the first brand new Corvette I ever saw, still on a transporter.

Thanks for the complements. The HT definitely gives it a very different look. I also found that the visibility is much better since the blind spots are so much smaller.

I am just glad that I did this over the winter since I could just take my time and when I got frustrated with parts of the assembly, just walk away from it for a week.

You did a great job and the car looks wonderful. Now when it gets above 100 degrees and you reach over and turn on the AC you can cruise in comfort. Oh, wait that Corvette doesn't have AC does it? Well then you are going to have to remove the top to get mother nature in! Better make that soft-top your next project. Keep us informed!

                    Hi JR,

The softtop is hidden Believe me, the HT will only be on for a short few more weeks and then the softtop will be up, or better down!!!
