    Rear Axle stamping's....

    Hi,

    IMG_0307.jpg

I'm a lot happier now that i have verified my 69 L68 has a reasonably original drive-line. Gearbox has VIN number stamped and from what i can see (pic attached) the diff is the same. My question is, and given the distance i am from all the Vette technology, how do i maintain the stampings without eroding them further? I might want to have the car judged in the future and i have to do the rear bearings and bushes soon.

Further on the bushes and bearings, where is the best place to get these parts so as to not affect points?

    Cheers

You can use a brass brush(or a stiff toothbrush) to clean the stamping on the diff, without hurting anything. Then, you may want to smear a little grease over it to keep it from getting any more rust. When it comes time to look at it, or have it judged, a little wipedown with WD40 should get it clean, and readable again.

      Grahame -

Differential (and transmission) "numbers" aren't judged in Flight Judging - only in Star/Bowtie judging.
