My '66 appears to have a posi-trac rear end. Both tires turn if moved from either side and there is a posi- traction warning sticker in the jack compartment. My confusion comes from looking at the restoration guide and it doesn't show a "code" for a base engine with automatic transmission. Is it possible for a base engine, automatic transmission to have come from the factory as an installed option?

I can't answer your question directly, but is it possible the rear end is not original to the car? What casting numbers, dates, codes, etc are on the differential? Some pictures could help, too.

Chock the wheels, put the car in neutral and jack up one side. If you can't turn the wheel it's most likely a posi, if you can turn it it's an open rear.

Yes. It is shown as an option on the 1966 Powertrain Chart, dated Sept-Oct, 1965.
