    A/C refrigerant line hoses

    Hi,
    Cannot find this information anywhere.............

Can someone tell me where to find the correct lengths for the 3 rubber refrigerant hoses used on the air conditioning systems?

I am specifically interested in 1966 BB applications, but I would think there would be several variations,

    1) 1963-1965 (Dehydrator is mounted inboard on radiator support)

    2) 1966 ( Dehydrator mounted outboard on radiator support, actually directly to the condenser) I do not think there would be much difference between a sb or bb application as the compressor winds up in about the same location

    3) 1967 I think again sb and BB would be same, although I suspect there may be a difference between 66 and 67 due to to change to a POA valve from the STV valve and a different fitting, although I have not compared enough original cars to see if even with the different components/fitting the hose attachment point winds up in essentially the same place.

Hoping some folks with known original hose set ups can measure their hoses (using a very flexible tape measure, I realize this is at best, difficult to accomplish)

Pics of the printing on them is also good.

All the repo hose sets seem to come all the same length and I guess you just use as seems appropriate but I would think there must have been a stated length for each application.

    Thanks!

Bill, I can't give you an exact figure but I think you are correct in saying use what you need. There is some variation when you consider the mounting and routing as these hoses are not real pliable and you do not have much room in spots. At least that has been my experience on my '65, I did some t*******. Good luck. Don H.

Really, the alternate word for cut that begins with "t" is censored????

This is what you get with PC run amuck.

        Don -

        The censor robot doesn't like the word "r i m m i n g".

          Well,
I did not get any dimensions on hose, but the censorship was worth a laugh!

Don, thanks for your response, thats probably what I will wind up doing, using what just seems appropriate. But I cannot imagine that is what they did on the assembly line.

            Bill,

I think two of my refrigerant hoses are original (1967 small block, built January 11, 1967). The 1/2" hose that attaches to the aluminum muffler assembly is approximately 28" long. It has markings on the hose but they are difficult to read. I can see a few dashes, what looks like "C2", then "1782" (or "1982"), then toward the end of the hose is "RRD" followed by "1/2" just at the end of the hose. The 1966 JG says "RRD" is one of the three known manufacturer ID marks (66JG, p. 147).

My 13/32" hose is approximately 32" long, and has clearer markings the full length of the hose, including "GY • 66 • 8 " repeated several times (August 1966). The 66JG also recognizes "GY" as an original manufacturer. I don't have any info for the 5/8" hose.

The item 2 and item 4 hoses have a separate p/n call out for the L36 engine on UPC C60-D7 in the 67 AIM, I'm guessing that is due to different big block length requirements for the 13/32" hose and the 1/2" hose, if I have figured that correctly.

              Re: A/C refrigerant line hoses

I just purchased a set of reproduction AC hoses from LIC.
Here is what is written on each of the hoses:
              1. EHR-3717-13/13"LOT3
              2. EHR-3717A-5/8"-LOT4
              3. RRD-1/2"-W82-3Z13
Are these markings corrrect for my 67 SB?
I had checked with Dr. ReBuild before purchasing from LIC but Dr. ReBuild said they don"t stock ac hoses any longer.
If the ac hoses I just got are not correct does anyone know of a source for correct ones?
              Thanks
              Neal Kalis

Dr Rebuild show the markings in his PDF catalog but no longer carries the hoses.

The original hoses on my Feb 67 car are as follows: GY.66.8.....13/32.4210- in yellow lettering HHR 3717A-LOT14-- in white lettering (note that the horizontial part of both Hs & the R were run together horizontially as one thereby tying all 3 together) RRD-1/2-W82--CV8 in white lettering. Ser # 115.. Hope this helps
