You know I have always wondered what the devil was the function of that pink pencil eraser thing on the end of the loop. Was it functional, or was it some bow to the female side of the designers as a joke of some kind?

I've heard 2 story's. It was put in there to stop someone from cutting or scraping their finger. Or since there are different colored plugs it was a way of identifying different dip sticks. Don't know, could be either one or both. Or something totally different.
