    62 Corvette Canadian Documentation

1962 corvette (late VIN) that sold new in Canada according to previous owner history. I understand that GM Canada Vintage Vehicle Services can provide you with a report on the car but pre 1964 cars dont list the options the car came with like post 64 cars. Wouldnt the NCRS shipping report give me the same exact information? Would it still be wise to get both?

For the relatively minimal cost I would suggest that you obtain both. More information is always better.

Small correction -- options records from GM Canada started with the '67 model year. Prior to that you got shipping date, order #, VIN, dealer # (George Zapora at Vintage Services will give you the dealer name and location), exterior paint and interior color codes.

As to NCRS shipping report, I think that the info is less than you would get from Zapora, as NCRS would show only that GM Canada head office was the export destination, not the specific dealer name and date, nor any of the other info.

Hopefully, someone on this board has tried this, and will respond to what kind of data the NCRS shipping report provides when the car is known to have been ordered from and shipped to Canada.

The NCRS shipping report for cars delivered in Canada lists the dealer name and address as: Export Canada-Check with GM Canada. You have to go to GM Canada to get the dealer name and location.

Well the NCRS shipping report came up Missing or damaged microfiche preclude us from providing this service for your VIN. So contacted GM Vintage Vehicle Services of Canada so we shall see.

Did the report specify what horsepower 327 the car had or just state engine: 327.

Matthew -- here's a copy of one of the pages (cropped) of GM Canada microfiche for 1963 model year. I can only guess that '62 and earlier might be the same. The format changed slightly for '64, '65 and '66, but the data was essentially the same.

Too bad they didn't fill in all the columns on the form . Had to downsize this pic to comply with discussion board pixel / aspect ratio limitations.

Small print column headings read: date shipped (month/day); shipping order #; year; model; serial number; motor; produced (month/day); fender or axle ratio; drive; wheel; keys (ign & door/comp'mt; trim; paint; dealer no.; X.C.O. No.
