Just an update to the 1962 Corvette Data base survey that Steve Clifford and I started some time ago. We now have 1450 cars listed and I believe that's about 10 per cent of total produced. We ran an information wanted add in the On Solid Ground publication and received a number of listings from the fellow members of the SACC. We are asking participants to furnish us with their cars serial number, engine ID number if original, transmission type and options (hardtop , soft top, power windows, power top, big brake, big tank and PCV. We also want the participants name and home town. That information will be kept confidential. We can notify participants as to total number of cars listed in our survey. Thanks, Daniel Ross N.C.R.S. # 12918 SACC# 377
Dan,
I realize the perspective for your statement "all other years are" is probably relative to C1s, but if you broaden your perspective there ARE other years of Corvette production for which color production information is not available from Chevrolet. 1969 and 1970 come to my mind, and there may be other model years as well.
Terry, Pat & Dan,
I might be able to provide a good portion of the production data breakdown you are inquiring about thru the 1970 model years. The reason why exterior color numbers are not published or difficult to determine for some years is because the color codes for all the Chevrolet model units produced were lumped together making the breakout difficult. If interested in the interior colors for the 62 Corvette it was:
Black: 6,845, Red: 5,425, Fawn: 2,261
Hello David, Any information that you have on the breakdown of 62 corvette colors would be appreciated. Thanks Dan
Using Chevrolet's actual color percentage of units produced in 1962 the STATISTICAL PROBABILITY for the 1962 Corvette color production would be: White: 6330
Fawn: 2772
Black: 1827
Almond: 1227
Red: 1051
Maroon: 820
Silver: 504
Note: This is NOT to be considered actual production quantity. These quantities are based on the actual production colors produced in '62 the Corvette quantity was included in this percentage. The '62 Corvettes produced were only .01185 per cent of total production.
