Midyear vent window removal from vent assembly

I must be missisng something. Can anyone guide me to the technique to remove the door vent window from the vent window assembly. I have the assembly out of the car. Thanks for any help.

Shop manual states "Push down on window to disengage upper pivot pin from frame" Do I need to remove some of the rubber weather stripping to get it down far enough to get the top pivot post out?

The glass is held in place by the rubber friction (unless someone used cement as a repair). I was able to SLOWLY work the glass out by pulling on the glass and the top of the frame. Once you get it started it becomes easier to remove. You may try to hold the glass and using a block of wood against the end of the frame top, tap the block with a mallet to loosen the frame. That would be easier with 2 people.

    Good luck

I just read your edit... are you trying to get the glass out of the frame, or the frame off of the complete assy?

Been there done that Dale. Your not pushing down hard enough. The rubber w/s will offer resistance, you'll need to supply the pressure pushing down in order for the "pin" to clear the frame.

Michael, Thanks, my first time and I did not want to bend anything. I guess my robber is old (original) and very hard. Since I am replacing the rubber, I may cut some of it down to make it easier. Now I will know.

            Dale,

You do have to remove the vent window regulator from the shaft and then push down hard on the vent window frame.

I will be working on it this evening. I do have the regulator removed as it is broke. I just need to use more force pushind doen on the vent window frame and it should come out OK. Thanks for you input and time to reply to my post. Dale

Thank you everyone for your replies. I was just my first time and I did not apply sufficient pressure and with my old rubber being so hard, it was difficult getting the vent window our of the assembly. I finally just removed some of the old rubber and poped it out. Thanks, Now I know.
