M20 assembly plant code question 1968

Can anyone help with figuring out what type of car a M20 I have came out of?

The VIN on it is 38M454315. I have checked all casting numbers and they are for a 1968 M20, just do not know what type of car it was used in...

Would the division and plant give a clue?

You cannot identify a 1968 M-20 from and M-21 or M-22 by any casting numbers.

The original type of car it was installed in can be determined from the assembly plant identifier which is coded into the VIN derivative. This would be the character which you show as an "M". However, there was no assembly plant operating during the 1963-74 period when Muncies were installed which had an "M" identifier. Please check that character more closely. If it's actually an "N" that would denote Norwood, OH and mean that the car was a Camaro.

38M is from a 1968 Oldsmobile built at the the Lansing Michigan plant 3= Oldsmobile 8= 1968 M=Lansing Michigan, probably came out of a 442
