    One of the best mid year cars on the planet, the 63 Z06 Bob Lejewsky car sold in about 1975 for somewhere around $5,000.

    If I remember correctly, the green/saddle 65 1,300 mile FI conv went for $20,000 in about 1978.

    The 3,000 mile maroon/black 65 396 conv went for around $20,000.

    Bob Pattersons #3 Grand Sport was for sale in Calif for about $12,000 in 1977-78.

    Buxbaum paid somewhere around $22,000 for the unrestored #1 Grand Sport around 1979.

      Are you really serious about everything inside the engine has to be original? Do you want the original marginal connecting rods in your high horsepower SB for example?I'd say the same thing about some of the other requirements for judging such as requiring bias tires . There has to be some reality here. On the original discussion,though, I would like to see some practical way of separating cars with original blocks from the restamps and so certifying.The engine is the heart of a Corvette.

          Personally I would prefer to retain all the original internal parts as I am more interested in preserving the original record of what the engineering team decided on for that package than I am in attempting to improve it. I also realize not everyone will agree with me.

            There is no 'certifying' of any type in Flight Judging. This critical point seems to be continually overlooked.

              States attorney office would not be interested in re stamped engines, unless it was part of a massive counterfeiting ring or psp case. As far as DMV I don't really see them being interested either, unless it's a case of changing or altering vins.

                As did I ($5800 about same year to be exact). And my L88 was a local car here when new with original owner still living until last year. About same time, original engined undamaged L89, running and complete but stripped to bare glass for $8500 with tons of NOS parts. And then several years later an undamaged local when new L89 with engine gone and tons of paperwork for $5000. And then there was the undamaged 435 or MAYBE L89 (build sheet missing, still searching for history) turbo 400 car, running with smallblock for $3500. Thems' wuz' the dayz. It seems like all that stuff jumped up 20 or 30K almost overnight.

                But the alltime dumb move (posted this before) was passing on the local when new ZL1 Camaro with motor gone but whereabouts known for $3500 bucks in late 80's. That's the orange car that Wayne Corini's (spelling?) buddy purchased at the Milton Robson auction last year for something in the 400K's.

                  I paid 30,000.00 for a 68 blue/ blue L-88 in the late 80"s it needed restored but did have its original motor & trany. Also dose anyone remember when OME had the party at the shop in 82 before BG a guy had a ZL-1 Camaro on a trailer going or comming from somewhwere & he said it was for sale. I beleave it was orange also. Back then I didn't want no damn Camaro. Oh well!

                    I remember those parties well. Lemme see, Arnie Beswick, Dale in a Sox & Martin Cuda, Red Alert Chevelle, and only know who else.

                    First time out with my L/88 was '87. Had it stored at Dale's prior to the meet. Dan Gale asked me to uncover it. He and another dealer/broker got into a bidding war. High offer was $85k, not quite enough to "turn the nut"
