68 Wiper Motor

I get I little confused with some of the descriptions on the wiper motor paragraph, page 68 on JM. It says the wiper motor case is blue for a repop, so what is the correct OEM color? Then it describes the label for the 69 and its date code but not the 68. This label is reproduced for the 69 and up but not the 68. The 68 had the assy number 5044683 stamped on the lower part of the motor case, is this correct? Then I can’t find nor have I seen that gold-iridite or cabmium bracket that holds the washer hoses and is stamped 491984 and dated????? How correct is the reproduced plastic water bag (A/C cars) with the blue and grey and the chevy bowtie ??

The date code of the wiper motor is on the second line below the part number and is three numbers for a Julian date (See the Julian date chart in the Carburetor Section.) and a single number for the last digit of the year.

Now, I don't judge under the hood (as most of you know) but I would interpret the dating to apply to both years

For the pump

The three-port pump is located on the passenger's side of the firewall in both years, and the valve with the additional two ports for the headlight washer system is located on the driver's side of the firewall in 1969. On the driver's side a gold-Iridite or cadmium bracket holds the windshield washer hoses and is stamped in black ink with the number 4919684 and the date.

Hmmm This last sentence is not really clear but it could be for 1969 only.

I actually don't think that silver label was out for the 68 year and the 68 only did have that assy number 5044683 stamper on the bottom. I have a few of these 68's with that stamp and then the AIM (69) shows that motor changed numbers, 50434731. I left out a number on that ??? bracket, the JM calls it a 4919684. Still can't find it in the AIM. 68's are sooooo much fun.

The bracket 4919684 is part of the headlight washer solenoid used on 69's only. It is not called out in the AIM as it was supplied to the assembly plant as part of the wiper motor assembly.
