Re: valve covers
I had a look in my Vette Vues Fact Book of the C2 Sting Ray
For the 250 and 350 it is Chevy orange , stamped steel with rectangular indentation containing black and gold decal "Chevrolet327 Turbu-Fire"
For the special high performance 365 hp and fuel injection it was the finned valve cover
I was really sure that it was the finned aluminum ones.Last edited by Claus S.; December 15, 2011, 01:44 PM.- Top

Re: valve covers
I'm a C3 guy, but I'm pretty sure the only hydralic lifter C2 engines that got the aluminum valve covers were the 350 hp L79's of 65,66 & 67.Larry

Yes, that's how it was. The 1965-67 L-79 was the only Corvette hydraulic lifter engine to receive aluminum valve covers during the C2 years.
1963-66 250 and 300 HP used the stamped steel valve covers with the "inverted peak" and central rectangular area for the decal. 1967 300 hp used a different style steel valve cover with "Chevrolet" script embossment.
All Corvette small block steel valve covers were basically the same as those used on most small block passenger cars for any given year. The only exception I can think of is 65-68 Chevelles and Novas with L-79 which used a chromed version of the stamped steel covers. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
