For sale 20 year collection of original Corvette Window Stickers, Protect-O-Plates, Warranty Books, Owners Cards and paperwork. 80 cars from 1953-67. 60 cars from 68-72. 25 cars from 73-75. 100 cars 76 and up. Big Blocks, Fuelies, and rare option cars in collection. Letters from dealership to soldier in Vietnam while ordering a 1967 435hp before he came home. This collection has it all! Will not separate! Over 800 individual documents including letters to Chevrolet, Titles, and Dealership Service Paperwork. Currently at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. $40,000

Sounds more to me like the Museum disagreed with his evaluation of the paperwork for purposes of his tax deduction.

A good opportunity to lose money. If you figure at least half of those cars no longer exist, or if they do, the owner doesn't care about the documents, you would have to average over $1000 per document. The $40K in a CD @ 1% will make a lot more money.
