    Carpeting Question

I am doing carpeting in my 64 Roadster which is a soft top but, has the hard top configuration.

Their is a bracket; on both sides of the rear tire fiber glass top wheel well, toward the front. Each has two fasteners. and is 3 1/2' long.

Does the carpet get cut to allow the bracket to come through when putting in the middle wheel well carpet cover?

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Re: Carpeting Question

    Tom,
I'm about 1 month from doing the same thing to my car. I can not say for certain but I think you probably have to slit the carpet to allow the bracket to protrude through. The bracket you refer to is what the rear interrior quarter panel attaches to. The quarter panel is the molded fiberglass piece that also attaches to the rear edge of the door jamb and covers the convertible top attachment to the body. The quarter panel gets attached to the bracket with 2 chrome screws on each side. Hopefully someone that has installed a new interrior will reply. You might also ask whoever you bought the carpet from.

        Re: Carpeting Question

I'm in the process of doing the same job. While my car is a 66 conv., it should be the same for the 64. Here are some photos of the original carpet and its placement in the area you have concerns about. The last photo is of the driver's side with the carpet removed. Hope this helps.
