1960 Hardtop Headliner-Re-Dye?

My red headliner is dark red, but don't know if from age or original dark red. What color should a new headliner be with red interior? Same as red interior color?

If it is suppose to be the same color as interior, can I successfully spray paint it? It is in good shape, but not great shape. CC sells 16 oz spray cans of vinyl dye. I am not ready to spend $269 for a new headliner.

Joe, resprayed my 58 headliner with CC vinyl dye last summer . It did fine except when I had it looking good paint dripped from the nozzel onto the headliner and I had to try and cover that up . If you can spray with the top standing upright where any drops would fall to the floor would help . One can is enough to do one headliner and have some left over .
The headliner should match your seat covers and door panels . CC will ask for the year of your car to match the paint code . Stan

Joe , no I did not sand the headliner only wiped it with a cleaner . I'd be afraid to sand it unless you had some damage . Mine was just the wrong color . Stan
