    bloomingtonand bowtie numbers

is there any record on how many bloomington gold survivor cars and bowtie cars? not necessarly both with the same awards. i was curious if there is some type of registry and if it's private or available to NCRS members.
i thought i remember this question in a thread awhile ago but i can't find it.

    take care,

I don't think you will find Bloomington award info on this site. You will have to contact Bloomington Gold for that information. As it relates to Survivor awards I would expect that there are considerably more of them than Bowtie cars given the low requirements of the Survivor award as compared to Bowtie.
There was a place on the NCRS site that would give the numbers on the various awards but I just looked and don't see it anymore. You are asking a good question and at some point I would hope the NCRS would provide and update that information for its members.

The information is normally listed after the description of the award in the member services area. Unfortunately there appears to be an error at this time in that data as it currently shows 0.

thank you dave and roy for the quick response. i am lucky enough to purchase a 66 427 car that has been looked at by a respected judge and has all the paperwork with awards as recent as 2007 with topflights,
3 star bowtie and bloomington survivor.
what would be the next step with the car? would i have to go through all the judging process again to earn the awards under my ownership? could it be eligible for the crossflags award? its an unrestored original car and thats the way i intend to keep it. thats the cars i love.

thanks again for all the advice.
            take care,

              Matt,
I can't speak for Bloomington but NCRS allows only 1 attempt at Bowtie. Yours got 3 stars which is quite an accomplishment but that is the end of the line for that award attempt.
All the flight awards are in other peoples names so you must start again to obtain the flight awards in your name. Crossflags is for later cars, I believe. Take your past NCRS judging sheets from the previous owners and use them as a guide to prepare your car for a new Top Flight.
              Good luck.

Dave is right regarding the NCRS star awards, but also be careful in your preparations for Flight Judging. If you make too many changes/corrections you could risk the star awards. As far as I know there is not a formal review process for the star awards -- like there is for Bowtie Award, but it would be a shame to make so many changes that the value of the three star awards would be diminished.

Now while I can not speak officially for Bloomington Gold, I believe you can bring the car back for Survivor Award judging as often as you like. If you are considering that you might want to drop a dime (or now days maybe an email would be more modern) to the Bloomington Gold office (www.bloomingtongold.com for contact information) to be sure I am giving you the right information. You can get the most up to date and official information from that office.

                  Re: bloomingtonand bowtie numbers

Another way to answer the original question is this.

For NCRS, you are done with Bowtie / Star award. As mentioned earlier, one shot at that in the CAR'S lifetime.

For Top Flight, you can certainly bring the car to a meet and go for that award under your ownership. No issue there. As Terry mentioned though, be very careful about what (if anything) you do to the car prior to that. I'd suggest doing nothing until you learn more about the car.

You could go for the Duntov Award, but that requires a Performance Verification (PV) done at either a Regional or National event. Those tests are REALLY hard because everything has to WORK on the car. And for an unrestored car, that might be tougher yet.

You could go for the Sportsman award, as that focuses on DRIVING the car.

You could also go for the Founders award, but that has an Operations component to it. If quite a few things on the car don't work as designed (radio, clock, etc), then you're going to have a tough time here too. You need 96% or better on an Ops check.

For Bloomington, you could bring the car and try for a Gold. I suspect it would make it if the other awards it has received are fairly recent.

                  How's that?

He would also need approval from the current Team Leader to try for a Duntov Award on the car. The leadership doesn't want Star/Bowtie cars getting restored just to try for a different award.

i would not touch a thing on this car. it still has the original belts, hoses, wires, air cleaner element, waterpump, etc etc etc. non original battery and repo tires however. i believe it didnt get the 4 star because of rear quarters paint touch up.
all these answers are exactly what i needed to know. i do plan on starting the judging next season. i am very lucky to have this car and plan on keeping it as is. i believe it will be a great part of corvette history and i'm honored to own it.
                      thank you all again.

                        Hi Matt,

Congrats on getting your '66 BB. I remember a thread not too long ago about you looking at a '66. We all would love to see some pictures of it as we get ready for Thanksgiving.

yes this is the car. i dont have it in my possession yet. the deal is done. i had to jump through hoops to get it done but it was worth it. i will pick it up in 2 weeks when work slows down and i can get away for a couple days. i am looking forward to getting it.
thanks everyone for the great advice.
