"So that amazing '65 Impala advertisement got me to thinking last week... My Dad's '62 Vette was the car my parents dated in and my Dad always regretted selling in order to get married and start a family. He and I have talked about duplicating it a lot over the years, but it would really blow his mind if the original car was still out there. Plus, my parents 50th wedding anniversary is coming up next September, so I thought it'd be really cool to reunite them to the car somehow.
I have a photocopy of the original window sticker on file at home and will dig it out tonight, but the serial number is 20867S101468. I've already done the basic internet searches for partial or full VIN's and found the car on both sides of it (which doesn't give me much hope.) It is a Fawn Beige exterior with Fawn Beige interior, 340hp, 4spd, soft top car, with posi and wonderbar and my Dad ordered it new through the dealership he worked at, Kenney Chevrolet, in Johnstown, OH. In late '62 he sold it to an individual in central Ohio and he believes it went on to win some IHRA or NHRA stock class championship a year or so later, but I've never been able to confirm it. Nothing else is known about the car after that time and I do not believe he has any record of exactly who he sold it to either. I know, not much to go on...
I had planned to post on a couple of Vette Forums, but since I'm not currently part of the solid axle crowd I did not think the request would be taken seriously. Any links you might have to late solid axle guru's would be really appreciated."
