    Cam identification

I pulled the cam out of a May 64 327 F0529S (passenger car , Powerglide) and it is marked as follows:
    F26 behind bearing surface 1.
GM 40 before bearing surface 3. Diamond on opposite side.
    6930 X after bearing surface 4.
    It has hydraulic lifters.
The engine was in my 62 Corvette.

Can someone tell me something about this cam?

    Bruce -

The 6930 core casting number says it's the "929" hydraulic cam (a/k/a "300hp" cam), used in base engines from 1967-1981.

The '929' cam was also the correct SERVICE camshaft for 1962 with 250 or 300 hp. No one would ever be able to discern any difference in engine performance or other characteristics compared to the camshaft originally used.
