I need to bolt in a correct manifold on my L36. The current incorrect manifold is bolted down with a mish-mash collection of bolts I think the backyard mechanic found lying about the garage. I see that the various reproduction catalog vendors carry a set described as "INTAKE MANIFOLD BOLT SET - 396 / 427 / 454 "A" HEADMARK." Will these pass judging or should I spend a bit more to obtain original GM NOS or used from someone like Richard Fortier?

Re: '69 427 Intake Manifold Bolts
I am always suspicious when every bolt head mark on an intake manifold for an early C3 is the same. They originally used different length bolts at different positions and the odds of them all being the same head mark are extremely long. Attached items like engine lifting brackets and spark plug wire supports also meant different bolts usually from different manufacturers.

I guess it comes down to what constitutes a correct "set" in this case.'69 Blue/Blue L36 Vert w/ 4-Spd

Re: '69 427 Intake Manifold Bolts
That's an early car, for sure. If you contact Rich, I would suggest asking him to mix it up. TR is a common head mark at the lifting eye but I would not even worry about having those two the same.
If it were mine, I would probably mix up some A and FP or whatever 68 was, typically. It would be cool to see three different head marks. Even the configuration of the bolt head would be different in that case.
On restored cars, it is very typical to see only one head mark on the intake manifold and valve covers but on original cars there is, most often, various head marks (on the same car.)Kramden- Top
