Paul------
I've seen LS-series engine conversions for C1, C2, and C3 Corvettes in several of the automotive magazines. I don't recall which ones or which issues. However, as I recall, the conversions required a lot of modifications and special parts in every case.
The reason I don't remember too much about it is that I was not very interested. As good as an LS-series engine might be, I'd never consider retrofitting one to any Corvette. To me, it just does not make any sense. I consider it more of an exercise than useful. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

I am aware that the "Restoration Station" has experience putting LS Motors into earlier model corvettes (I believe it was a '62 that I saw). They are great at painting restoring vettes. Paul,
Try a GM Ramjet 350.
It bolts in, self contained ECU, lots of power and great gas mileage.
It does require a small modification to the center hood reinforcement.
Just add 12 volts and fuel.
I put one in a 62 a while back.- Top

Re: Ls Motor Into A 1958 To 62
I was at the Walmart Library the other day looking at a Super Chevy Magazine. One of the writers said that there are motor mounts available to adapt LS mounts to SB chevy mounts. There are weld on SB chevy side mounts for C1s available from various vendors. Corvette Central has them. You would still need to figure out a trans mount.
I would think that it would be just a matter of time before somebody came up with a complete LS coversion kit for C1s.- Top
