help on changing rear shocks on 62

Hi guys, I've got a rear shock leaking on my 62. This looks like it's going to be fun. Any suggestions on how to go about removing the top nut on the shock? Also once I get it off is there a trick to replacing the new ones? HELP!!!

    John,

I did that this past winter. There may be better ways to do this, but I put a flexible open end wrench on that top nut then used both hands to twist the shock body to unscrew it. (once you start to turn the shock body, the wrench will hold itself in place as it hits the frame so you can then use both hands). Had them both out in 10 min.

When I put the new shocks back in, I used my fingers to hold the rubber bushing/washer in place as I slide the threaded shaft through. Once the shaft was just sticking through, I put the nut on top holding it with one finger as I turned the shock body to start the threading. Then used a wrench and turned the body.

    Hope this helps,

    Tony
