The Metro-Long Island Chapter had their Fall Meet at Wehrmann Engineering in Hauppauge, NY on Sunday, September 18th. All 12 cars that were judged received Top Flight.
I bought my split window coupe on August 4th from a gentleman who owned it since 1973 and had never had it judged. He wasn't a NCRS type, so over the years when a part needed to be replaced, he wasn't concerned with originality. The car was an eclectic mix of various other GM and generic parts. The carburetor, valve covers, aircleaner lid, alternator, starter, water pump, radiator, horns, exhaust, antenna, hoses, clamps, belt, wheels and tires were all incorrect.
So work on it all winter to get it ready for the Spring Meet? Heck no, I'll get it judged September 18th! I began a frantic search for NOS and rebuilt parts. Corvette Repair in Valley Stream pulled the engine and transmission for a full engine compartment restoration.

It got back together 2 days before the meet. It was worth the effort, as I received 1236 points out of 1240 in Mechanical, on the way to a 96.2% Top Flight.
