Just received a photo from a friends 1968 327/350 July production he is the original owner. Have to re-size the pictures to large for the post. The tube points at a 45deg angle.

My one thought on this change from 45deg to the 90deg may allow for an easier access to the points for an adjustment with the air cleaner still installed. With the later smaller distributor shielding cover on late 70 through 72.

Paul, the 90 degree was there since 65 BB. This 68 is the earliest reference to the other part, what this needs is an AIMS scrub for C3. Where's Don O!?!

There had to be another reason for the angle, we just haven't found it yet.

THis was a very late 68 production car though too...

This is how I got it from the original owner, who was my next door neighbor, I'm sure that this is the original base(please disregard the Fram air filter, the headers and the mallory dual point distributer!)

Just realized for the last few weeks we have been starting at a mid 71 350 with the angled tube pointing at 45 degrees, essentially an all original car, no reason given the environment the air cleaner would have been changed.
