I have several '68 radiator supports---small block, big block, with and without air conditioning, and with and without transistorized ignition.
It is my belief that cars equipped with transistorized ignition had a "extra" hole drilled into the radiator support to accommodate the TI wiring harness.
Please see photo below. The "extra" hole I'm referring to is the large (lower) hole that is missing the rubber grommet. Photo is of the left (driver's side) of the radiator support, looking from the front.

I think this hole was added after the original stamping of the support because there is a "burr" on either side of this "extra" hole. None of the other holes in these supports have burrs.
I'm thinking that this hole was "drilled" as needed, either at the manufacturer, or on the assembly line?
Any input, thoughts, knowledge?
On another note, I'm looking for a photograph of a block heater "plug" installed into a '68 radiator support.
I have such a photo somewhere, but have not located (on a floppy--oh my).
Thanks,
George
