Hi, Can anyone tell me the correct clocking position of a 65 SB with air of the alternator. I assume 3 oclock but the many pictures I have saved it is all over the place. Thanks in advance. Mike

Re: 65 SB Alt Clocking Position
You are correct, and the '65 TIM&JG agrees; "The rear case square gray wire plug is orientated 90 degrees clockwise of the front case (upper) mounting boss". [facing the back of the alternator] -- brackets added by me.
Mind you, in the case of the small block air cars, this orientation places the wiring and gray plug directly above the exhaust manifold. You would think that a 12 o'clock position would be better from the connections heat-soak exposure.- Top

Re: 65 SB Alt Clocking Position
Wayne, Thank you once again for the info. I am getting ready to drop body for the final time I hope and am trying to get all the loose ends done while everything is easy to get to. And I agree that 12 would seem to make more sense but will reevaluate when body is on. I don`t mind changing mine as its not a judged car. I do enjoy trying to keep most things as they were or should be if I can. Your help is much appreciated! Mike- Top
