Help! Page 38 of the judging manual has me confused, is the 250 HP inlet fresh air hose from the core support to air cleaner exactly like the 290 HP?
thanks Ronnie
As I recall, the 250hp engine did not use the hose from the aircleaner to the rad support, and it was left covered. Pretty clearly covered in my 25 year old judging manual.
Ronnie, One of the few photos of a low HP 58 to 61 appears in Noland Adams old book-Vol 1. All these years I never understood why the low HP has/had no hose going to the core support.
When you are looking at a 58 to 61 fuel car one clue as to whether it was LHP or HHP is to look at the whole on the core support. If the screw holes are threaded you know it was a LHP as they used the sheet metal block off plate.
One minus factor about those LHP cars is you must come up with an original AC or maybe Atlas element as it's readily seen without the hose going from the air cleaner cannister to the core support.
Most use a K&N but that's won't do it. John
