I need to replace the lower windshield support on my 64. The lower portion of the support is in good shape, just the upper half is rusted. The rest of the Birdcage is solid and still shows green oxide primer. The question I have is this. Would it be better to cut out the entire support and replace it with the pre-spot welded section or just seperate the upper portion and replace that. Also, is the cowl bonded and riveted to the lower section or just riveted. This made be a little above my skill level. Is there a shop in the NH/Mass area that I can trust to handle this repair. It really doesn't look to difficult but my welding ability is not good enough for this job.Gary

Re: 1964 Coupe Lower Windshield Support
Gary,
Others will post with answers to your questions. But in the interim I thought I would send you this.
At first glance it will apear to have nothing to do with your problem, but why not use this method and replace just what is rusted on your windshield frame. I think your second stated option is probably what I would do if it were mine.
Good luck with your project,
