Hi all, I've installed a U58 radio in my '72. I know it is not correct for the year and was hoping someone that has their dash apart could take a picture of its correct mounting in the car. If it matters, I'm not sure, I have an A/C car. Thanks!!

Re: Picture of mounted U58 convector mounting
Not sure if this will help or not?
I have a 70 non A/C coupe and just re-installed the 74 AM/FM Stereo (U??) that came with the car.
It only had three attachment points, the 2 nuts that are under the control knobs that secure the radio to the center console, and behind the center console (out of sight) is 1 metal sheetmetal strap that attaches to the right side of radio (as you look at it) and connects to an angle bracket on the transmission tunnel/floor of the car.
The amplifier (if there is one) mounts to the underside of the dash behind the glove box/pocket.

Lynn, I've got a photo, and as soon as I find it I'll PM it to you. May be a few days, as I go back to work for 6 days on Saturday.Kurt Geis

Re: Picture of mounted U58 convector mounting
Thanks for the replies.
Mike, Thanks but I'm looking specifically for the amp/convector mounting. I've successfully installed the radio itself.
Kurt, looking forward to the pic you have, no huge rush though.
Tom, those are the components from my U79 that i removed. Unfortunately the amp/convector does not use the same mounting holes as either of the two components shown in your pics.- Top

Mine looks just like Tom's. It's a very early '72 car, but looks the same.Kurt Geis
