Th400 Transmission Vin Example

Guys,
I have looked thru the archives and the JG and know where the VIN is located on the 69 TH400 Transmission. Can someone tell me what an example of the VIN derivative would be on this transmission. If there is a photo available that would be really great. I'm talking about the actual VIN derivative on the drivers side next to the shift linkage stamped into the transmission. I can find the tag riveted on the passenger side but there is nothing stamped anywhere around where the VIN should be. I really appreciate your help.

The transmission VIN derivative is EXACTLY the same as that which is stamped on the engine. It was stamped by the same set of tooling, by the same individual, at the same work station -- I would say at the same time, but that is not quite true. The stamps were done consecutively.

If you have a blank case it is likely that case is a SERVICE replacement, although I would not expect a ID tag on the passenger side of a bare SERVICE case. It could, however, be a service transmission. I am not sure if a complete service transmission came with an ID tag or not.

I read your post previously about the stamping but was not sure if the VIN was identical to the engine stamping. Thanks for taking the time to clear that up for me.
