Whom can I call to restore my original spark control solenoid and/or is there someone that sells restored originals?

Iknow Paragon sells them re-conditioned for 72`s. But repros for 70. They have many reconditioning services, so it would be worth a call and see if they would do yours.

I called today, no originals for '70. The guy I spoke with (Mike) didn't think they can restore original ones.

There is a NOS 1114434 solenoid currently on Ebay (not sold by me) but you will need an extremely fat wallet to buy it.

Depending how intense of a restoration you want, they're not hard to do yourself. I was leery until former member Gary Schisler described a "how to" on it via this board back in 2002 or so. You may want to check the Archives.

I've done a few since then and as long as the copper wiring is OK it's not tough. Soldering and I don't get along so I've not tried to repair the wiring but others have done it.

Remember, the repros are exactly like the originals and at $100 new I'm not sure it would pay for you to have someone rebuild yours. Just a point of information.

I believe that the font on the repro might be narrower. Enclosed is a link which compares an original and repro 1114432 solenoid (used on 1970 small blocks) as shown in post #7. I assume that the same company made repro 1114432 and 1114434 solenoids.

Hi,
The repro does look nice.
I see the difference in the font too.
In the photo there seems to be a slight difference in the end plate too. The original, (left), has a straight 90 degree corner cut-out at the top, while the repro, (right), has a top cut that has a radius .
Can this be seen when it's mounted?

It appears that you could swap the endplates with the different fonts if you wanted to and then have an accurate one.

It may not be an original-to-this-car part, but I would not call it a fake if it functions and appears like the original.

An empty Campbell's soup can with a straw in the end - that's a fake.
