On my 2001 coupe, I run Michelin Pilot Sports A/S Plus ZR. They are non run-flats and are MUCH quieter. I also carry a small air compressor and a tire plug kit (knock on wood).
We install them here at the dealership for 1320.00 installed. I like to see the customer do an alignment too. That runs about another 60 bucks.
You should be able to get a good price on a set through any of the major online tire retailers. Tire Rack etc. Then have a local tire shop mount them up.

Back when I had my 2000, I replaced the stock Goodyears with a set of Firestone Firehawk runflats and was happy with the improvement. The Firestones were more quiet and handled better.

I also use Michelin Pilot Run Flats when I replaced them on my wifes C5.
Recommend replacing the TPMs, search on line there are others out there that are 50% of the GMs. I had my tires also load balanced.
I put Michelin Pilot Run Flats wifes '98. She/I love them - if it were just me driving it I would have gone w/Michelin non run flats and saved a little $$$'
Bought them at Discount Wheel and Tire for about a grand - have 14k on them with no problems - I also would recommend replacing the TPMs at the same time - Discount charged me $45 per wheel and reflashed the computer.
