I am replacing the after market discs on my 64 with the correct drum brakes (Power)that were inside the car when it arrived. The previous owner had stated the front end was rebuilt so upon inspection I notice this. What's wrong with this picture? See photo. I am going to rebuild it again.

Correct. To give credit when credit is due he did the other side correctly. Note the photo of the back with the fin cut off. I found the original silver blue under the mound of matte and resin. Note the six light COPO tail lamp panel. GaryAttached Files- Top

Re: 1964 Ball Joint assembly
I don't think that any Corvette was ever built at St. Louis with a 6 light rear panel, COPO or otherwise. This was a common mod way back when but I don't think any came that way.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

You're too serious, Joe. Even I figured out he was kidding.
Gary, if you missed this thread, you might want to read it. There's more in the archives, including one about rivets.

Gary------
There are so many people that actually think that 6 tail lights were actually installed at the factory I figured you just might be one of them.
The blame actually goes to Jan and Dean who spoke of 6 tail lights in the song "Deadman's Curve". Of course, the Stingray involved in that song had to have been a California car and California was, once-upon-a-time, the "hot-bed" of the 6 tail light conversions. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1964 Ball Joint assembly
Gary------
"Filled in" front fender "louvers" for 63-64 Corvettes was another popular styling "craze" in California in the 60's and 70's. It was nowhere near as popular as 6 tail lights, but there were more than a few around. In fact, in 1967 my brother purchased a 1964 FI coupe that had "filled in" louvers, 6 tail lights, and flared wheel wells. No rear "spoiler", though. The wheel wells on this car were beautifully done; it looked almost like the car was "born" with them. The "filled in" front fender "louvers" were not so well done. I think someone had just filled them in with bondo. He had constant problems with that area during the 3, or so, years he owned the car.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
