    fuelie filter

I have a 61 315 HP fuelie I am almost fiished restoring. I have installed the Air filter ductwork and am now ready for the filter. I have found the air filter elements in several of the catalogues. On top of the fact that they are very expensive they appear very stock. What I was wondering is if there was a high performance filter like a K & N that was available that any of you guys may be aware of, or at the least a normal supplier that may handle a more resonably priced one. I will drive this car and don't look forward to spending about $100 each time I change the filter, which I will do often.

    Thanks as always,

    Jack Alexander 35730

Corvette Central shows #351001 1959-1961 filter for $7.95 if you have the correct filter housing.

        Jerry,
The CC #351001 is the fuel filter cartridge.
I believe Jack is referring to the air filter.

That is correct. The E1935 filter looks like this:

Thanks to all of you. As usual the correct answer in no time. I am just putting the finishing touches on a 3 1/2 year ground up on my 61 fuelie and I could not have done it without all of you. More diferent people on this board have lent their expertise to this project that I could possibly name. I look forward to helping others in the future through this fine provision.

            Warm Regards,

            Jack Alexander 35730

PS: I got it through Advanced Auto for $55 next day delivery

              Re: fuelie filter

Sorry I didn't see this before, but K&N filters are overpriced junk. They filter poorly and don't flow any better than a same size quality cellulose filter.

If you don't want to dirt hone your cylinder bores, take it back and search for a name brand cellulose filter.

There's lots of discussion on this issue in the archives.

The K&N filter for your 58 to early 62 is not the worlds answer as Duke mentioned.
But personally I am not aware of a good paper filter like the original?
There used to be a good repro but I don't believe it's available anymore.
Personally I prefer the paper style filters in all of my vehicles. JD

P.S. No I do not know where a fellow can find an original filter. I probably get a call or two a month with that question.
