63-64 vs. 65-67 fuel sending units; GM #

I was told that the fuel tank sending unit for Jan '65 thru '67 was GM # 6425827. And that prior to Jan '65 the GM part # was 6425113. Anyone have any idea of the differences that led to that part number change?

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Gary-----

There were actually FOUR different part numbers, including two that were SERVICE-only:

    1963----GM #5642797 (SERVICE only)

    1963-64-GM #6425113 (PRODUCTION and SERVICE)

1965-67-GM #6425827 (PRODUCTION and SERVICE) (also 63-64 SERVICE)

    1963-67-GM #6428065 (SERVICE only)

What's the difference between the above? I have no idea.

Seems to me that the shape of the float and the desgin of the strainer is different in the 1963's

        Page,

How so? I think the latter units had a black float and black "sock".

Gary, float material sock and the attaching nuts and isolators. Most barely visible. Most of this should be in the archive, 2009...

Page; others --- here's the pickup/sender in my late '65; believe it to be original.

Same sender as shown in post # 23 of this recent thread:
