    Starter repair kit

Anyone sell a repair kit for 1108418 (73 SB manual trany)

I'm looking to replace the shift yoke, mine has about 1/4 of the round stubs worn out. The rest of the starter looks OK.

Also, does this starter have a model code like 10MT

I just went down to a local starter/alternator repair shop and bought a new yoke from them, it was like $15. Have you tried NAPA, they have a large catalog with electrical parts they can order.

Starter rebuild kits are commonly available at your local auto parts store and they generally do a good job.

One warning though, a number of the kits are omnibus based (fits Corvette, passenger car, and truck) and contain a fresh/new solenoid return spring. Do NOT blindly toss your factory original solenoid return spring if your kit gives you a new one!

There were different springs unique to this/that starter/solenoid combo. The Corvette setup typically used a slightly shorter spring with less spring force to overcome when the engine compartment was hot and the starter was heat soaked.

You can unintentionally generate the 'hot starter' issue by using the wrong version of solenoid return spring. Don't ask me how I know! The net result is the starter works great when it's cold, but doesn't want to engage the Bendix when it's hot and heat soaked...

        Thanks,
Napa doesn't stock internal parts. But, I went to a local ammeter/starter repair and got a new yoke for $3

The rest of the starter is original including spring and brushes and in good shape.

        Thanks all
