66 Shift Linkage & Lever Finish?

Lots of conflicting information on this one!

Older version of the 66 JM specifies that the shift linkage, rods, swivels, nuts and clips are black oxided.

Latest 66 JM specifies (all of the above) to be natural finish.

Several VERY knowlegeable members have sited black phosphate.

I'm up to that point in the process and can go in any direction
and seem to be leaning towards compliance with the latest JM (natural finish) but thought I would check with you guys first.

I wouldn't be surprised if the reason for the conflicting information stems back to the manufacturing inconsistency from the factory?

    Thank you,
    Ralph
