    63_Rear wheel alignment

I had the rear on stands recently and noticed that relative to the right wheel, the front of the left wheel points in significantly more and the top points out significantly more. The differences are such that my wife commented on it. Generally speaking, is this just an appearance issue associated with the rear spring, or is it an indicator of an alignment issue? The wheels were aligned several months ago, and I haven't put many miles on the car since then, nor have I had any impacts (curbs, pot holes, etc)

Your observance may have something to do instead with wear of the side yokes in the differential and bears investigation. Put the car back up on stands and have a helper rock the tires at the 6 and 12 o'clock location while you observe any lateral movement of the yokes with respect to the diff housing. Play greater than 1/8" makes it worth putting on the round to it list for overhaul someday.

Not many miles on the differential since an overhaul, although I don't remember if the yokes were replaced

I thought I had a side yoke problem as well. Turned out the be wheel bearings, I couldn't tell the diffrence until the half shafts were removed. Be sure to check the tire at 3 and 9 as well. Good luck!!

Not many miles on the bearings, either.

Are you talking about how the geometry appeared with the car on stands or after it was down on the ground and moved enough to normalize the rear suspension?

Dig out the alignment report and tell us the initial and final settings.

The observation was while the car was on the stands.

With the rear wheels "hanging", you can't really make any meaningful conclusions based on the observations you described.

I agree. I have similar observances when mine is up on the lift. The tires hang at different positions.

This thread seems to indicate thats normal.

But when on the ground, I get a perfectly level rear end and my alignment is on the money. Everything has been rebuilt or replaced.
