Does anyone have experience getting a car judged with a Dewitts direct fit aluminium radiator when the car is supposed to have a copper brass unit? I would really like to use the aluminium radiator instead of recoring my old one. Thanks
I have a 1967 was restored by the previous owner more to be driven than to be an NCRS car and he put in a Dewitt's direct fit radiator. I have the scoring sheets from when he had it judged. He lost 7 points for the aluminum radiator.

Mike, I notice in your profile that you own a '65. If this is the car you are talking about, your car came with an aluminum radiator from the factory, small block or big block.
Yes, it is not bad, and definitely worth every point deducted as the DeWitts beats the originals by a mile. I love mine and it solved all the problems I used to have.
I did not look at DeWitts 65 BB rad when up there, only the 66 that I needed, you could not tell the difference to the original, and performance is fine. This entire aluminum vc copper is subject to too many other variables (written about on this forum often) that rad for rad its unlikely you'll note the difference. Its almost like putting on Ford hubcaps just get a real one...
