    C1 steering wheel removal

I want to rebuild my steering box on the 60. The clutch head type screws that hold the horn button clip onto the steering column, don't look like typical clutch head screws. They have one side that has, what I would describe as, teeth. These teeth prevent my clutch head driver from seating properly. Before I booger up the screw heads, figured I'd ask if there was a special tool to remove these screws?

Clutch head screwdriver of the right size should go right in. Mine worked. Also disconnect the battery.

      John,

There must be a size in between the ones I have that fits. I'll do some searching.

You gave me a laugh when you mentioned disconnecting the battery. Made me realize I don't have one for the car, need to put it "on the list" to get. I'm still several months away from needing one though......

Those are typical clutch head screws.
If you don't have the correct size driver just grind a flat screwdriver to fit.

Another excuse to buy more tools!

I picked up a set of bits on ebay a few months back and it had the right size for the wheel and was a nice set.

            here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1955-...#ht_500wt_1165

Get a small bolt and grind the sides down to fit. Now you can use a socket wrench.

Go to your local swap meet and look for the guys with the chinese tools.
I used to buy the set pictured in the previous post for anywhere form $5.00 to $10.00 and resell them on Ebay.
They are actually very well made.
