I own a '64 and live in the Cincinnati where Trim Parts is located. I have their tail lights and I am very happy. Trim Parts has many of the molds from GM and makes very good components. If any thing, they may be smoother and better chromed than originals.
Installing my '64 was a breeze, just a couple of screws holds the tail lights in place and plug in the wiring harness. It is a tight squeeze around the gas tank and the back side of the tail lights, but its doable. Let me know if you need any help.
PS - our club held our monthly meeting at Trim Parts a couple of months ago. They make the tail lights for most retailers.
Corvette changed from number 1034 to 1157 lamps in 1964. The 1157 lamps are roughly 20% brighter than the 1034 lamps and have a different current draw profile. But, auto parts stores consider them 'interchangeable'. That's also true of later era 1157 substitute lamps...
When you get your replacement tail light assy's, they'll probably come with fresh lamps installed, ready to bolt on. If you want a factory concours correct restoration (including proper blink rate with a factory original flasher module), open the light assy's and inspect the lamps that are installed.
If I'm correct, you'll find the lamps are NOT #1034 devices and this is the time to swap them...
