    1966 Side exaust

In 1966 were you able to order the N14 side mounted exaust system option on a 327-300hp powerglide? Thanks for any info.....

Yes; no restrictions in 1966 or '67, except that N14 was qualified (off-road service) on the dealer order form, to get GM off the hook if local gendarmes handed out noise tickets .

Wayne, Have you been following the disscussions of the last two or so days on the availability of N11 on this same application? The concensus is that N11 wasn't available on 66 327 power glide, only 2 inch standard exhaust. It would be odd if N11 or any larger size wasn't available but N14 was. Your thoughts please.

Russ -- the dealer order forms for both '66 and '67 say N11 (Off Road Exhaust) with all engines with 3 or 4 speed. Might have been something to do with the 2.5" inlet of the 3845635-736 exhaust pipe assemblies (used for both 327 and BB cars). Off-hand, don't know why automatic trans were disqualified; maybe Joe L. can give us the story. The service parts books seem to imply that anything was possible, so maybe it was just a corporate decision to drop N11 with automatics.
