If the turn signals function properly, then chances are good the problem is either the Hazard Flasher (in the fuse panel) or the Hazard switch in the turn signal mechanism. When operating the Hazard switch does it feel like it is moving int he usual way?
Replacing the Hazard Flasher is the easiest first test. If that fails to resolve the problem replacing the turn signal/Hazard Flasher switch is the next option, however replacing the switch is labor intensive, and the switch is not inexpensive so some troubleshooting with the 1972 Corvette Electrical book from the NCRS story might be in order. If you do not possess electrical troubleshooting skills it might be best to consult a professional if the Hazard replacement doesn't fix it.
Thanks for that Terry. The turn signals are working fine & the switch feels normal. I will locate another flasher unit & try that. Also order the electrical book as suggested. We have to have the cars over here do a warrant of fitness evey six months so urgent action is required before summer dissappears!
Sorry Steve, I didn't look to see where you were, but that wouldn't have helped me with your need for a "warrant of fitness." Best of luck with that.
I am from the Chicago area and we just had our third greatest one-day snowfall ever -- 51.5 cm. And in the days since, new snowfall has been in the range of an additional 12 to 13 cm. No Corvette weather here.
