Finish Color for Brake Drums and Master Cylinder

    Hi everyone.

For a 60 Vette with standard drum brakes.

Finish Color for Brake Drums and Master Cylinder.

I've seen cast iron grey and 60 degree gloss black; anyone know which is correct?
    Thanks in advance.

    Jim,

I don't think I've ever seen painted brake drums, but I have seen master cylinders in both bare metal and black. When I have a choice, I always like to paint just to keep the rust to a minimum.

      Hi Bob,

      Thanks.

Interesting. Upon disassembly, cleaning the greasy rusty nasty critters, and heavy blasting, I noticed that the interior of the spindle hubs had remenants of black paint; it appears the hubs were dipped in black paint. I think I will leave the drums and master cylinder in cast iron grey.

      Thanks,

      Jim
