I have a rebuilt 4 speed shifter for my 1966 car. When it was done it was disassembled, the levers on the bottom were parkerized, and it was reassembled using new clips, good pins, etc. It is nice and tight. What type of lubrication should I use, if any? One suggestion I got was a lithium spray.

Don't know whats the very best lub for this application ,but I've use white lithium on all the shifters I've rebuilt over the years and have no complaints. It seems to hold up for a very long time. There may be a better alternative, but I haven't heard of it yet.Thats whats so great about this site, you'll probable hear from a dozen people.

Here's one more vote for white lithium grease. Definitely holds up well. I overhauled both M-21s and lubed all linkage pivots/levers/rod ends with an acid brush.
