    Re: 70 Lt1 Trans

hey gang: I owned a blue/blue 70 lt-1 in the early 80s. It had a factory installed (vin stamped case) M-22 rock crusher and 4:11s. no steering but 140 off-road cam. Whats the chance it was a ZR-1?. I wraped around this thread because I felt the topics were related

I'd say the chances are pretty good since both the number of ZR-1 cars sold and the number of M-22 transmissions ordered were 25. Did it have an aluminum radiator?

Patrick is right - only the ZR1's got the M22 - and most had 4:11's to boot. Was the car radio delete? Power brakes?

Did it have power steering or windows? Do you recall the VIN or build date?

I'm interested in hearing more about it.

On second thought Richard, how did you determine it was an M-22? 1970 M-21 transmissions also have the drain plug that people thought of as an M-22 attribute.

Here is what I can remember; no ps/but pb, did not pull trans to confirm m-22 but had noticable gear noise in lower gears- did initially notice extra drain plug-I thought that item was not added as production until 1971-not 1970. Did not remember vin/prod date, did have 4:11s, had aftermarket panasonic 8-trak stereo-that did not work!, don't remember any antenna, original engine but no shielding, engine had 140 off road cam, we put fresh 178 cam and springs-car became much more driveable-I don't know how the 302s used that cam on the street-even with 350 cubes it was a bear!!

The survey is still going on, actually, 25 years now.
The last time results were published was Spring 1992.
However, stay tuned, I recently sent the updated survey to Vinnie Peters at the Restorer. Hopefully he can find room, the summary results and survey forms take up a lot of real estate.
I have attached .jpeg's of the survey form. I needed to reduce size to fit, so clarity may suffer. If needed, send me email address and I will sent better forms.

                Scott,

I think I replied to your survey, but I'm not sure now. If it's not too much trouble, can you advise me if I am in your database?

                  Eric,
As you may have noted from the number of posts Scott has made, he is not a frequenter of this site. I suggest you send him an email using the links under his name. You are far more likely to get a response from him that way. I am pretty sure it will be a lot easier for him to find your car, if it is on the survey, if you include the VIN.
