Howdy all! I'm rebuilding the guage panel on my 63 Blue Coupe and the oil pressure guage wasn't connected when I got the car, so I never got to see how it's supposed to be hooked up or what type of hookup it is. Is it electrical? Is it a hose/pressure system? Where and how does it connect on each end? Is there a sensor on the block somewhere? Help!

It's a pressure system. NOT electrical. NO sender.
Uses a copper plated steel tube. The tube runs from the back of the block, up near the distributor, through the firewall, and then to the back of the gauge.
Most of the vendors probably sell a reproduction kit with fittings.
You should be able to find a diagram in the AIM or in one of the parts catalogs.

Do you know the reason why it wasn't connected? It might be a good idea to pressure check the gauge for leaks while you have it out. Eng. oil and interiors don't mix well !
If it's a early 63 car there is no hole in the emergence brake assembly for the oil pressure tube. I don't know when this changed and the hole is added.
Thanks! Not sure why previous owner disconnected it, but there's all kinds of stuff disconnected for no apparent reason. One interesting thing about the oil guage send line is that he ran a piece of hose from the block end fitting and has it dangling past the bell housing like some sort of drainage pipe. ??? Does that tell you anything? Ever seen that before? I haven't...
Jim, I don't know if you purchased the oil line yet. But, at some of the parts suppliers if you tell them it for an NCRS car going for a top flight, they will send the line with the correct bends as opposed to being bent in a circle.
