AC hose retainer on fender tub location

I'm working on my 67 air contd. engine compartment that I started four years ago and just now starting to assemble things. (forgotten so much)
the right fender tub has been replaced and I'm trying to locate the correct placement of the holes for the hose retainers. In the aim on page UPC C60 D3 the location of heater hose retainer looks pretty straight forward, but the front retainer for the AC hoses, UPC C60 D7 seems more complex. I only want to drill once! I was going to use the dimples in the tub as a drilling point until I saw the diagram . should I follow the measurements as described in the Aim? seems like the dimples were put there for a drill marker. Thanks for any help, Craig

also can't seem to find the placement of the AC label on the evaporator box. a photo if you will.

    Craig ,

Assuming the 66 and 67 were the same , Here is a picture of where I put my label after much research.

    I hope this helps.

      Craig -

Photo below is a '67 SB with A/C, if that helps; see if it matches up with the diagram in the Assembly Manual.

John, thanks for the photo. really can't tell of the brackets location in reference to the existing dimples. it would take a hands on look to make a definite determination. maybe I"m making to much of this but Its interesting that the dimple location was not used.

            Craig,

Here are some pictures of my inner fender. If you blow it up a little it seems to show the holes are a tad off from the dimples . They were probably just used as guide to where the bracket was to go , then it was up to whomever drilled them that day to see how close they got .

I hope I remember what all the other holes are for !

I just checked my 1967 SB factory air car (late March 1967 build), and the AC hose bracket is also not mounted directly over the dimples. The actual bracket holes are slightly off-set from the dimples, similar to what Jim shows in his pictures.

Maybe the same guy on the St Louis line mounted both our AC units.

Don't use the dimples. I learned the hard way. The hoses sit too high and the compressor pulley will slowly wear a goove and then hole in the hose and while you are driving down the road you will suddenly smell coolant and the temperature gauge will start to slowly climb to HOT. Don't ask me how I know all of that. Also, a similar situation can develop if you don't cut the hoses short enough. In other words, you need them tight against the compressor bracket so they won't ride up into the turning pulley - again lesson learned.

In case you didn't a;ready figure it out, I'm talking about the lower bracket of the two.

Thanks again Jim, just what I was looking for. what are the two larger holes just a little front of the bracket holes we are talking about?
I do not have those nor do I remember seeing them before.

                    Craig,

I was hoping you could tell me , or at least someone else can ! I just shot those pictures for you over the weekend , and asked myself the same question when I saw them .

It has been many years since I pulled everything out , so I hope that with pictures and pieces I fiqure it out when I get to the point of putting it all back together. Off the top of my head , I think I remember my car having two hose brackets , and the other hole could be for a wiring clip.

                      Thanks for the photo Craig.

I now think this may have been another case of Bubba at work. Where the hose bracket was moved forward. I quess I will have to plug the two forward holes back up.
