I am a returning member with a desire to learn about the 1972 LT-1 w/AC. My old M.F. Dobbins FACT BOOK states there were 286 built but many listings show 240 were built. What is the offical count? Also, is there a way to find a listing of how many were built by coupe, convertible. color code and VIN# etc. Thank you for your help.

Re: 1972 Lt-1 W/ac
Those numbers have been floating around for years -- and no one (Dob included) has been able to provide any proof of their validity. Anyone who can support those numbers by some official means is welcome to end the speculation. Since so far no one has come forward to verify those numbers any breakdown by any other parameter is also not available.Terry- Top

Re: 1972 Lt-1 W/ac
No disrespect to Dr. Dobbins (I knew him back in the 80's), but 240 is a closer number. I just sold my '72 LT-1 coupe with A/C last week (on *bay). Drew Papsun has around 197 of these registered so far. So Drew probably has a pretty accurate breakdown by color and options.
Mine was a Sunflower Yellow coupe/Standard Saddle interior, and loaded with every option except rear defogger. All drivetrain numbers and dates matched. Watch their value shoot up once this market gets back on track.- Top
